Lotus F1 Team – Brazilian GP – Race Report

It may not have been a dream end to the season for the Lotus F1 Team, but the retirement of Lewis Hamilton after contact with Nico Hulkenberg meant that Kimi Raikkonen was still able to secure 3rd place in the drivers championship.

Raikkonen narrowly avoided Vettel on the first lap at Turn 4 – locking a brake and throwing the car on to the grass to avoid taking out the title contender, but came back strongly in to the points in changeable conditions. The Finn provided one of this years comedy moments later when he left the track at Turn 12 and took to the support race paddock to rejoin the track – only to find a closed gate blocking his path! After finding his way back to the track Raikkonen had fallen back down the order, but managed to salvage a single point for 10th position.

Grosjean rounded off a mixed season with a crash as he over corrected a slide in wet conditions early in the race.
